Description

A welder’s job is to join metal or plastic parts together using heat, pressure, or both. Welders also repair metal structures and maintain their welding equipment. 

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints: Welders study and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications 
  • Take measurements: Welders take and read measurements to ensure accuracy 
  • Weld components: Welders use manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to join parts together 
  • Inspect welds: Welders inspect the quality of their welds and identify any flaws 
  • Maintain equipment: Welders maintain their welding equipment and ensure it’s safe to use 
  • Follow safety regulations: Welders follow strict safety regulations and wear the appropriate safety gear 

Skills
